Kathryn is a 19-year-old Singer-Songwriter/Fashion-Lifestyle-Travel Influencer with a huge passion for both music and fashion that aspires to change the world through spreading positivity through her music and awareness on the lack of opportunity for Asian-Americans in the entertainment industry.
She is a trailblazer who has already performed at Super Bowl Houston LI during the LIVE shows at the fan festival leading up to the actual Super Bowl in February 2017. The festival had over 1 million people in attendance, with plenty of celebrities in attendance as well. This is so far her biggest achievement and I'm sure the first of many to come!
"My motto in life has always been "Dreams don't work unless you do" and I have always believed that hard work pays off. I even included this quote in one of the songs on my EP 'Follow Your Heart' titled "Dream Works"." said Kathryn when I approached her for this interview, and that hooked me to continue knowing a bit more about her story and achievements.

Who is your main inspiration?
My main inspiration comes from both my parents. Ever since I was little, they have always encouraged me to follow my dreams and pursue a career in whatever it is I am most passionate about. They've never been the type of parents to sort of "live through me" and push me into a career that they envisioned for me, and for that, I am forever grateful as it has helped shaped me into who I am today.
What was the biggest fear you had before going public with your music?
Initially, my biggest fear was that I would not receive a positive reaction from my listeners, but after receiving an overall great response, it's given me great confidence to continue to create more.
What belief makes you fearless and unapologetically you?
I believe that being fully transparent with your audience is how you continue to build and grow with them; which is why I take pride in always being myself, whether it's through my music, social media, or even the brands I work with. I have always loved the quote "Self love is the best love", and firmly believe that loving yourself and always staying true to who you are is the key to genuine happiness and success in life.
What's your motto in life?
My motto in life has always been "Dreams don't work unless you do" and I have always believed that hard work pays off. I even included this quote in one of the songs on my EP 'Follow Your Heart' titled "Dream Works".
You are promoting your last song, anything curious and personal you want to share with us about it?
I wrote my latest single "Against the World" for my boyfriend, Tristan, who I have been with for almost two years now and was inspired from our long distance relationship.
I moved to Austin, TX to go to school at the University of Texas at Austin on a Business scholarship and he went to the University of Houston in August 2018. We both had never been in a long distance relationship and did not realise how hard it was to be away from each other for so long. I don't care what anyone says- long distance relationships are HARD; but nevertheless, they are doable, and it just takes a certain amount of faith and positivity for your relationship to survive it; which is why I wrote Against the World, to encourage all of my long distance relationship couples to stay strong through all the hardships and remind them that everything is worth it, if it means being with your loved one.
Hope you enjoyed the interview and found it valuable.
